Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nestor Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alejandro Moreno!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moreno clinches up with Walsh and pushes him back against the cage.
Walsh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Moreno smiles and moves away.

Moreno closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Walsh is staying active underneath Moreno, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Moreno seems to be looking for submissions.
Walsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Moreno thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Walsh is looking to escape.
Moreno stalling.

Moreno wants to pass the guard but Walsh is defending well.
Walsh is refusing to be controlled, as Moreno sits in half guard.
Moreno has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Walsh is squirming around, avoiding Moreno's attempts to control the action.

Walsh is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Walsh tries to hold on but Moreno postures up.

Moreno gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Moreno drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walsh wants to get back to his feet but Moreno is dominant here and he's now got Walsh's back!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Moreno holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Walsh wants to take the fight to the mat but Moreno manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Walsh fails to pull guard.
Walsh has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Moreno is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nestor Walsh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moreno has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Walsh uses from the top position.

Walsh postures up in Moreno's guard and throws a big left but Moreno blocks it.
Moreno avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Walsh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moreno is looking to stand up but Walsh isn't so interested in that idea.
Walsh throws an elbow that misses. Moreno uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Walsh's guard. Nice move by Moreno!

Walsh keeping moving, preventing Moreno from controlling successfully.
Moreno wants to get up but he can't break Walsh's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Walsh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moreno is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Walsh doesn't manage to clinch there - Moreno circles away.

Moreno closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Moreno lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Alejandro Moreno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Walsh avoids the head kick by Moreno.
Walsh tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Moreno counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Walsh goes for a takedown in the clinch but Moreno prevents it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Moreno creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Walsh is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Moreno is defending well for now.

Moreno ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Moreno no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Walsh is standing up over Moreno. Moreno looks to escape but Walsh dives into side control.
Walsh lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Moreno down.
Moreno is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Walsh's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Walsh drops an elbow to the side of Moreno's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Moreno manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Moreno looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walsh is one step ahead there.

Walsh makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Moreno has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Walsh is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Moreno.

Well Moreno has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A determined Alejandro Moreno didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
