The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hetfield shoots in but Montgomery avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hetfield closes the distance and clinches.
Montgomery has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hetfield uses from the top position.
Montgomery wants to stand up but Hetfield is controlling him.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Hetfield.
Hetfield shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Montgomery but Montgomery pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Montgomery closes the distance and clinches.
Montgomery is working for takedown but Hetfield is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hetfield has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Montgomery regains guard immediately.
Montgomery wants to get back to his feet but Hetfield is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hetfield cracks Montgomery with a solid left hand.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hetfield accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hetfield stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Montgomery swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Montgomery is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hetfield wants to sweep but Montgomery has passed to side control!
Hetfield tries to bench press Montgomery off him but Montgomery keeps the position.
You can see the frustration on Hetfield's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hetfield slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hetfield throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Montgomery escapes and throws Hetfield's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Montgomery gets caught flat footed, as Hetfield shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hetfield is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Montgomery is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Montgomery has escaped and now he's on top!
Hetfield is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Montgomery is aware though and is defending well.

Montgomery has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hetfield to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Montgomery is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hetfield pulls down on the head and he's put Montgomery to sleep! This one is all over!
