Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Morse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, David Nixon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, James Morse! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nixon throws a head kick that misses. Morse shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Morse showed some decent athleticism there. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Morse looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Morse is looking to stall here but Nixon recovers full guard. Morse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nixon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morse has managed to get both his arms back between Nixon's legs - danger averted. Morse loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nixon keeping full guard, as Morse tries to pass. Morse trying to control the position from guard on top but Nixon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nixon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Nixon distracts Morse with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Morse pulls Nixon in close to prevent any damage. Nixon works over Morse with some ground and pound from guard. Nixon content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Morse working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nixon. Nixon connects with a couple of short punches. Nixon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morse works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Morse tries to land a sweep but no joy. Morse looking to control.
Nixon controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Nixon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nixon with a nice head shot there. Nixon postures up in Morse's guard and throws a big left but Morse blocks it. Morse wants to get back to his feet but Nixon is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Morse being controlled here, momentarily. Morse trying to keep a closed guard but Nixon is proving a slippery customer.
Nixon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Morse is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nixon is aware though and is defending well. Nixon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Nixon passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Morse tries to bench press Nixon off him but Nixon keeps the position. Nixon working the head with strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Morse takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Morse is looking to reverse the position. Nixon working the ground and pound. Nixon is chipping away with strikes.
Nixon is putting a hurting on Morse here, landing some big shots from side control. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Nixon in side control lands a decent elbow. Morse felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Nixon controls the position. Nixon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nixon lands a damaging elbow. I was talking to Nixon's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Morse is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nixon pulls him back up using the underhooks. Nixon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nixon darts in and out, connecting with a jab. A slow jab from Morse misses its intended target. A momentary lapse in concentration from Morse enables Nixon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Morse manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Morse looks to clinch enabling Nixon to counter with a crisp jab. Morse is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Morse has a takedown stuffed. A head kick by Morse misses and Nixon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nixon. Nixon breaks the clinch.

Morse looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nixon is fending him off so far but Morse persists. Nope, Nixon circles away and we're back to standing. David Nixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Morse. No luck for Morse with that takedown attempt. Morse is working for takedown but Nixon is calmly controlling the position for now. Nixon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Morse tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Nixon counters with a series of strikes. Morse will be more careful next time no doubt. Nixon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Morse's calf. Nixon moves into the clinch. Come on Nixon - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Nixon tightens his grip and picks Morse up, before dumping him to the ground. Morse manages to land in guard. Nixon working some strikes from top position. Nixon looking to control the position here, rather than advance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morse tries to clinch but Nixon is having none of it. David Nixon is winning the standup battle so far. Morse tries to close the distance and clinch but Nixon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nixon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Morse manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Nixon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Morse can do to turn this around? Nixon postures up.

Morse has hold of Nixon's hands but Nixon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nixon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Nixon is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
