Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonathan Tiberun! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Knight! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knight looks to land a combination but Tiberun avoids it well. Knight throws a right and a left that Tiberun avoids nicely. Tiberun avoids a punch combination nicely.
Knight has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Tiberun is landing a low percentage of strikes. Tiberun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Knight swats him away and circles back towards the center. Tiberun with a poor takedown and Knight counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Tiberun thinking. Tiberun tries to clinch but Knight moves away and Knight counters with a right hand to the body. Knight throws a series of punches but Tiberun moves out of range. Knight is looking to chop away at Tiberun's legs. Tiberun is looking to clinch. Knight moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Knight shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. A punch combination from Knight misses. Tiberun avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tiberun gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Tiberun shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Tiberun thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Tiberun is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Tiberun seems to be working for a kimura but Knight defends the submission attempt. Tiberun is working for a kimura but Knight is defending it quite comfortably.
Tiberun thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Knight's head. Tiberun is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Knight defends it well. Knight wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tiberun landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Knight looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tiberun is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Tiberun is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Knight is just riding it out for now. Tiberun eventually gives up the hold. Tiberun has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Tiberun missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Knight is trying to stand up here but Tiberun is controlling him well. Knight keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tiberun prevents Knight from standing back up.
Knight is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Tiberun passes the guard and advances to mount! Tiberun looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Tiberun raining down hammerfists from mount. Knight is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Tiberun looking to isolate an arm here. Knight doesn't see it coming and as Tiberun extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Tiberun!
