Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kurt Cobb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alicate American!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Cobb. Those never looked like landing.
American misses with a wild combination.
American displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cobb.
Cobb shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. American defends it nicely.

American closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
American fails to pull the fight into his guard.

American wants the takedown. Cobb is fighting it off but American persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Cobb's guard against the cage.
American showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Cobb pulls American in close to his closed guard and prevents American from doing any damage or advancing position.

American wants to stand and escape but instead Cobb has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
American trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
American is trying to keep Cobb in close.
American wants to improve his position but instead Cobb has moved into half guard.
Cobb passes the guard and advances to mount!
American holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cobb tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Cobb throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
American tries to hold on but Cobb postures up.

Cobb looking for a guillotine from mount but American is having none of it.

American is trying to reverse the position but instead Cobb has taken his back - oops!

American tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Cobb misses with a head shot.
Cobb takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cobb trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
American avoids a series of strikes thrown by Cobb.

Cobb has control of American's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and American regains control of the situation pretty easily.
American is trying desperately to improve position.

Cobb sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

That was a close round but I would say that Kurt Cobb will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

American throws a combination that misses
and Cobb counters with a right hand to the body.
American tries to clinch up but Cobb circles away and keeps his distance.

Cobb shoots in for a double leg but American sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
American fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

American closes the distance and pushes Cobb back into the cage.

Cobb manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Cobb is pulling down on American's head to control his posture.
Kurt Cobb overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
American content to stall in guard here.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
American trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Cobb manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

It looks like Kurt Cobb has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cobb has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. American is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
American lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

American manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
American wants to control the position but Cobb says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
American is staying active underneath Cobb, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Cobb cracks American with a right hand to the side of the head.

American closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cobb wants to get back to his feet.

Cobb is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Cobb is not content to let American control the position.
American trying to mount his opponent but Cobb defends it.

American looking for a submission but Cobb manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
American looking to sit in guard and control but Cobb gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
American wants to hit a switch here but Cobb passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for American there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alicate American showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

American has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cobb clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

American must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cobb is looking for a triangle but American pushes his legs off easily.

Cobb has his foot on American's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. American works his way back into a safe position though.

American is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
American stuffs the takedown.

American tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cobb prevents the takedown attempt.
American jumps guard but Cobb turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kurt Cobb has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alicate American.
Cobb tries to score a body lock takedown but American shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
American has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cobb after a bit of a struggle.
Cobb tries to land knees in the clinch but American avoids the damage to the body.

Cobb jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as American walks away with a smile on his face. Cobb gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

American tries to score a body lock takedown but Cobb shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
American takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

American escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

American tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Alicate American.
I think American has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
