And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Takuji Kawashima!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kawashima looking to score a takedown here. Blue is defending well but Kawashima drives through and ends up in Blue's guard.
Kawashima looking to sit in guard and control but Blue gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Blue wants to stand but Kawashima is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kawashima tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Blue easily slips into full mount!
Blue avoids the attempt from Kawashima to control.
Blue is looking to stand but Blue has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Kawashima is in a horrible position here. Blue smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Kawashima is working to get back to half guard.
Blue really is a fat lump.
Kawashima tries to hold on but Blue pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blue seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Kawashima manages to get to full guard.
Kawashima is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kawashima is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Takuji Kawashima.
Blue avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kawashima throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kawashima bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Blue tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kawashima wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Blue is not content to let Kawashima control the position.
Kawashima laying and praying for a moment but Blue takes advantage and regains half guard.

Blue is trying to get back to full guard.

Kawashima is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Blue still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Blue has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Kawashima parries the strikes from Blue easily there. Blue is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kawashima to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kawashima manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kawashima moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Blue is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takuji Kawashima dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kawashima throws the kick towards the body but Blue avoids it.

Blue gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kawashima distracts Blue with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kawashima might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Blue haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kawashima accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kawashima is working for a kimura here but Blue manages to reverse the position and he's now in Kawashima's guard.
Kawashima is looking to sweep but instead, Blue has passed into half guard.

Takuji Kawashima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Blue's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kawashima closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Blue's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Blue uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kawashima.

Blue wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kawashima keeps working.

Kawashima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blue doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blue manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Blue works his foot free and advances to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Blue pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Takuji Kawashima comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kawashima has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
