PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Enrico Ciccone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Finch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jamie Finch was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Enrico Ciccone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamie Finch!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ciccone moves in looking to clinch but Finch pushes him off.
Finch throws a right hand that misses

and Ciccone counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ciccone.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Ciccone throws a big elbow that misses.
Ciccone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ciccone content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Finch can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ciccone controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ciccone postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Ciccone loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ciccone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Finch has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA New York. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Finch wants to get back to his feet but Ciccone passes into half guard.
Finch is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ciccone looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Finch looks like he's trying to stand up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ciccone connects with a nice short shot to Finch's temple.
Finch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ciccone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ciccone is working for an americana but Finch has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Ciccone was thinking about the submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Ciccone passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Finch!
Ciccone takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ciccone is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Finch can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ciccone cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ciccone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ciccone lands a couple of good shots and Finch has given up his back, trying to escape the position!


Finch is rocked!

Ciccone has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Finch is in real trouble here. Ciccone gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Finch is tapping out! Ciccone wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Enrico Ciccone!
