Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yaw Quartey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and J P Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quartey tries a head kick but it misses.
Quartey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Quartey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Simon.

Simon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Quartey's waist but Quartey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Simon off to one side.

We're going to have a standup here because Yaw Quartey wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Simon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Quartey sprawls well. Quartey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Simon gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Yaw Quartey will probably get the nod.

Simon keeps control of Quartey as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Simon wants to break the clinch but can't.
Simon has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Quartey avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Quartey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Simon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Simon uses his free foot to push down on Quartey's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Quartey.
Simon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
