0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kennith Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Xiro Kandalino! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cannon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kandalino looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Cannon engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Cannon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cannon throws an elbow that misses. Kandalino uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cannon's guard. Nice move by Kandalino! Cannon being controlled here, momentarily. Cannon is looking to stand up but Kandalino isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cannon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kennith Cannon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Cannon shoots for a takedown but Kandalino saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kandalino shoots in and gets a takedown into Cannon's guard. Cannon is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
We're going to have a standup here because Kennith Cannon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Cannon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kandalino's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cannon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Cannon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cannon drops back looking for a leg! Kandalino is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kandalino manages to kick Cannon off! Cannon jumps back into Kandalino's guard. Cannon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cannon postures up and lands a big shot to Kandalino's brow. Cannon stands up over Kandalino, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Cannon lands a couple of elbows. Cannon wants to stand but Kandalino has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Cannon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cannon chips away with some ground and pound. Kandalino is breathing heavily. Cannon with a nice head shot there. Cannon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cannon drops back looking for a leg! Kandalino is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kandalino manages to kick Cannon off! Cannon jumps back into Kandalino's guard. Cannon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Cannon looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Cannon with a nice head shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cannon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cannon lands a couple of digs. Kennith Cannon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cannon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cannon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Cannon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Kennith Cannon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Cannon pushes Kandalino up against the cage in a clinch. Cannon manages to pull guard.
Cannon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Kandalino stops Cannon from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kennith Cannon. Cannon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kandalino sprawls well initially but Cannon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cannon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kandalino defends it well. Kandalino is trying to control but can't.
Cannon is figuring out what he wants to do next. Cannon scoring with strikes to the body and head. Cannon scores with a couple of good hammerfists. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cannon drops an elbow to the side of Kandalino's head. Cannon working the head and body with strikes. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cannon throwing strikes but missing. Cannon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kandalino can do to turn this around? Cannon wants to stand but Kandalino has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Cannon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cannon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Cannon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kandalino is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cannon, into his guard. Cannon wants to stand and escape but Kandalino is having none of it.

Cannon's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
