Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lon Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn has chosen Bebot-Black Eyed Pease as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. BJ Penn looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lon Wells! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, BJ Penn! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn checks a leg kick. Penn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wells swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sloppy strikes from Penn. Those never looked like landing. Penn throws a sloppy head kick and Wells moves out of range easily. Wells rushes Penn and presses him up against the cage. Penn is trying to break the clinch but Wells has him pressed against the cage. Penn looks winded! Wells breaks the clinch.
Penn throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Penn throws a head kick that misses. Wells really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Wells moves into the clinch. Wells pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Wells scores with a takedown into Penn's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Wells stays in close to Penn's body and controls the position. Wells content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Wells sitting in guard, not really doing much. This has been an exciting period of action!
That's one minute gone in the round. Wells passes Penn's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ground and pound from Wells. Penn is trying to get back to full guard. Wells will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Penn tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Wells has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Wells lands a heavy elbow. Wells controlling from mount. Wells prevents Penn from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wells controlling from the full mount. Wells is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Penn has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wells takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Penn in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wells tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Wells wants to finish this one by submission but Penn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wells. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wells landing punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Wells connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Wells sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A nice elbow there by Wells. Wells has control of Penn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Penn regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wells controlling his opponent. Penn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wells sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Wells lands with some strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wells tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lon Wells dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Penn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wells circles away quickly and effectively. Penn throws a head kick but Wells moves out of range.

Penn misses with a double jab
and Wells counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Wells pulls guard. Penn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wells manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wells controlling from the full mount. Wells has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wells with a couple of short strikes. Penn is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wells content just to control the position here. Wells punishing his opponent with strikes. Wells sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Wells with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Wells looking to control and managing it successfully. Penn is looking to improve his position but Wells isn't that keen on the idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wells takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lon Wells overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wells lands a couple of good shots and Penn has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Penn fending off the submission attempt from Wells. Wells working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Penn holding both Wells 's hands and preventing any damage. I would not like to be Penn right now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wells has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because Lon Wells wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Penn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wells shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Penn's guard. Wells seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wells is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Penn can do to turn this around? Wells lands a couple of elbows. Wells is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wells with a nice head shot there. Penn looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wells is working Penn over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wells not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Wells tries to stand but Penn is controlling from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lon Wells dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Nice defenses there by Wells. A looping hook to the body misses from Penn. Wells does a little dance to reset his feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Penn enables Wells to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Penn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Penn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wells is one step ahead there. Wells controls from within his opponent's guard. Wells slips nicely into half guard. Wells perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Penn wants to improve his position but Wells is controlling well.
Wells passes the guard and advances to mount! Penn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wells controlling from mount. Wells landing strikes from the mount. Wells with the ground and pound from mount. Wells looking to finish Penn with some ground and pound. This is bad for Penn! Wells controlling the position easily from mount. Penn bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! BJ Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wells is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Penn is controlling him. Penn looking to sit in guard and control but Wells gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Wells sitting in guard here, content to control. Wells has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Penn is proving hard to escape from. Wells seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wells lands a couple of digs. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wells preventing the sweep.

Wells slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Wells landing strikes. Wells remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Wells tries for a kimura but Penn is defending well. Wells stands up.

And that's the end of the fight! Lon Wells showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wells, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
