Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shelton Harrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into the arena with Country boy can survive blaring out of the sound system. Harrell has chosen Ellie Goulding - Burn as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
39 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ratt Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 14 - 2, fighting out of New York, Shelton Harrell! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes dives in and grabs Harrell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Harrell pushes down on Hughes's head and hops out. Hughes shoots and misses and Harrell connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hughes shoots in for a takedown but Harrell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ratt Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hughes blocks a leg kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Hughes. Harrell does a little dance to reset his feet. Harrell uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hughes. Hughes throws a right hand that misses
and Harrell counters with a slapping leg kick. Harrell misses with a right hand and Hughes makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Harrell avoids the body shot from Hughes.
Hughes throws a predictable looking body shot
and Harrell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hughes thinking. Hughes dips to his left and cracks Harrell with an uppercut! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hughes is looking to score with low kicks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shelton Harrell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Harrell lands with a thumping leg kick.

It looks like Shelton Harrell has been cut. Hughes lands a nice looking body shot.
Hughes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Harrell connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hughes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Harrell moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes throws an off balance right hand
and Harrell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Harrell throws a looping overhand right but Hughes ducks down to avoid it. Harrell thows a leg kick but Hughes checks it and Hughes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A nice leg kick lands there from Harrell. A left lands for Harrell. Ratt Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hughes attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Harrell throws out a leg kick but Hughes moves out of range and Harrell only half commits. Harrell takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Hughes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Harrell counters with a slapping leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A shot to the body from Hughes misses and Harrell counters with a nice uppercut. Hughes with a nice cross. Hughes dives in and scores a takedown into Harrell's guard. Harrell controlling Hughes's posture. We've been hearing that Hughes has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Harrell looking for a sweep. Not yet Harrell, not yet. Hughes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Harrell is controlling Hughes's posture. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hughes throws a strike but Harrell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hughes working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes looking for a sweep. Not yet Hughes, not yet. Hughes is working hard here to advance position. Hughes is controlling Harrell's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes wants to sweep here but Harrell controlling him for the moment. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hughes misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Harrell to counter with a crisp jab. Hughes misses the jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ratt Hughes dominated that round. The cut man is working on Shelton Harrell's cut. That's time! Hughes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Harrell attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Harrell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hughes. Hughes connects with a right hand. Harrell shakes it off. Hughes misses with an uppercut
and Harrell makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Harrell on the wrong end of a nice hook. Hughes drives through with a takedown into guard. Harrell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Harrell manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Harrell controlling the position easily from mount.

Harrell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hughes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Harrell is pressing down on Hughes's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hughes is holding on for now. Harrell is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Shelton Harrell has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Hughes lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Hughes dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Harrell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hughes checks a leg kick. Harrell connects with a body shot that sends Hughes's belly button to the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hughes looks for a takedown but Harrell sprawls well. Harrell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hughes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harrell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hughes somewhat. Hughes moves out of range of the leg kick from Harrell. Shelton Harrell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hughes is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hughes shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Harrell defends it nicely. Oh Hughes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Harrell attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Hughes seems to have got his legs back now. Harrell lands a high kick!
Hughes avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Hughes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hughes throws a combination that misses and Harrell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hughes's knee momentarily. Hughes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Harrell jabs at Hughes's body. Hughes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Harrell defends well and Hughes ends up having to push Harrell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Shelton Harrell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Hughes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
