Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Olaf Groff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernie Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Olaf Groff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernie Miller!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Groff is defended easily by Miller.
Miller fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Groff looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Miller told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Miller lands a shoulder strike.
Groff takes a shot to the head.


It looks like Olaf Groff has been cut.
Miller lands a nice shot to the body.
Miller gets underhooks to prevent Groff's takedown attempt.
Miller gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Miller should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Groff changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Miller fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Olaf Groff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Groff keeps the fight on the outside.

Miller gets a clinch.

Miller lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Miller misses with some punches.

Groff has Miller pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Groff pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Miller tumbling to the mat - Groff dives into Miller's guard.
Groff advances to half guard.
Miller tries to roll over but Groff keeps him under control.
Groff thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Groff looks to land a strike but Miller avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Miller wants to stand but Groff is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miller utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Groff trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Groff trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Groff accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Groff throwing strikes but missing.
Groff with a flurry of punches that miss.
Miller pulls Groff in close to his closed guard and prevents Groff from doing any damage or advancing position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.
Groff in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Miller is trying to control the position but Groff postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Groff seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ernie Miller has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Groff fails with a takedown attempt.
Groff dives in for a single leg takedown but Miller sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
With the fighters up against the cage, Miller throws an elbow but misses.
Miller doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Miller is fighting off a takedown attempt but Groff is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Miller to the mat. Miller regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Olaf Groff will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Groff has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Groff there as he acknowledges the shot.
Miller throws a half hearted mid kick.

Miller has closed the distance and engaged Groff in a clinch.
Miller struggles to land a body shot inside as Groff controls his hands.
A head punch on the inside from Miller fails to land.
Miller lands a nice shot to the body.
Miller throws a head punch that misses.
Miller tries to work over Groff's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Groff looking for a takedown.

Groff has Miller pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Miller manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Groff blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Miller lands an elbow inside that Groff shrugs off.
Miller tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Groff has Miller pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Miller manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Miller lands a right hand.
Miller lands a good knee to the midsection. Groff won't want to take too many of those.
Groff is trying to drag Miller to the mat but Miller just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ernie Miller seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Miller lands a right hand that snaps the head of Groff backwards.

Miller drops Groff onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Groff is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!


Groff is rocked!
Miller creates a bit of distance and cracks Groff with a massive left hook! Groff crumples out of camera shot, completely unconscious! He's been Nelmarked! Miller stares at him for a moment then struts over to his corner, victorious.
