Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Nitschke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Numa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Numa comes into a darkened arena with his song building. You're Going Down kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Nitschke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keiji Numa!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ron Honeybunn and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Numa.
Nitschke swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nitschke thows a left - swing and a miss!
Numa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab from Nitschke misses.
Nitschke fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Numa checks it well.
Nitschke misses with a right hand

and Numa counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Nitschke!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Nitschke is trying to improve his position.

Numa swings around for an armbar but Nitschke sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Numa's guard.

Numa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nitschke is aware though and is defending well.
Nitschke lands a couple of decent looking shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nitschke postures up in Numa's guard and throws a big left but Numa blocks it.

Nitschke got a little sloppy there for a moment and Numa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nitschke has managed to get both his arms back between Numa's legs - danger averted.
Nitschke is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Nitschke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Numa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Numa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nitschke defends well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nitschke stands up over Numa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Nitschke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Nitschke is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Numa has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Nitschke is looking to defend but Numa has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Nitschke! Numa pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Nitschke taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Keiji Numa!
A very excited looking Keiji Numa made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, Damian Nitschke stepped up to the mic, saying 'Curtis was a tough opponent and I respect what he has accomplished in the Sydney fight scene. Best of luck to him in his future fights...he was the better man tonight.'.
