Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Reginald Hatfield! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kazuhito Matsuda! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matsuda throws a series of punches but Hatfield moves out of range. Hatfield looks for the body kick but Matsuda saw that one coming. Hatfield misses with a low kick. Matsuda walks into a straight right hand from Hatfield. No luck for Hatfield with that takedown attempt. Matsuda gets tackled into the cage by Hatfield. Hatfield maintains the clinch. Hatfield wants to break the clinch but can't.
Matsuda utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Matsuda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Matsuda closes the distance and clinches. Matsuda is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Matsuda stalling in the clinch.

Matsuda putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Hatfield in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Hatfield is trying to push Matsuda away but Matsuda has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Matsuda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hatfield really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Matsuda keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reginald Hatfield. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hatfield moves away from the strike by Matsuda. Hatfield shoots in for a takedown but Matsuda shows good takedown defense. Hatfield avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kazuhito Matsuda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Matsuda is looking to clinch. Matsuda tries to clinch but Hatfield moves out of range. Hatfield has a takedown stuffed. Hatfield is breathing heavily. Hatfield lands a jab to the nose. Matsuda keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hatfield tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Matsuda tries to clinch but Hatfield moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hatfield fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Matsuda as Hatfield shoots in. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hatfield crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Matsuda - the referee stops the clock and Hatfield gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Matsuda. Hatfield manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Hatfield takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hatfield uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Matsuda. Matsuda misses with a hook. Hatfield tries to keep at a distance but Matsuda has taken the fight into the clinch. Matsuda pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hatfield goes for a double leg but Matsuda avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Matsuda continues to drive forward.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsuda's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Hatfield throws a sloppy head kick and Matsuda moves out of range easily. Hatfield wants to clinch up but Matsuda keeps it at a distance. We've been informed that Matsuda has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Hatfield tries for a takedown but Matsuda sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Matsuda misses with the combination.
Matsuda forces Hatfield back against the cage and clinches. Matsuda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Matsuda tries to clinch but Hatfield is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Some wild striking there from Matsuda.
Hatfield shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kazuhito Matsuda dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Matsuda leaves Hatfield with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Matsuda keeps Hatfield at a distance using the push kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matsuda clinches up against the cage. Hatfield is working for takedown but Matsuda is calmly controlling the position for now. Matsuda lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hatfield has a couple of punches blocked by Matsuda.

Hatfield takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Matsuda slaps away a takedown attempt from Hatfield, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hatfield swats away the attempt to clinch by Matsuda. Kazuhito Matsuda seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hatfield shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matsuda as he jumps to the side. Matsuda moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Matsuda lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Hatfield throws a nice looking combination but Matsuda bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Matsuda throws a head kick but Hatfield moves out of range.
Hatfield shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matsuda as he avoids it easily. Hatfield drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Matsuda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Reginald Hatfield is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hatfield tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hatfield takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Matsuda tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hatfield manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Matsuda wants to clinch but Hatfield slips to the side letting Hatfield counter with a right hand. Matsuda stuffs the takedown. Matsuda tries to clinch but Hatfield moves out of range. Hatfield tries to keep at a distance but Matsuda has taken the fight into the clinch. Matsuda manages to break the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Matsuda wants to clinch but Hatfield slips to the side and Hatfield counters with a two punch combo. Hatfield looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kazuhito Matsuda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Matsuda tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Hatfield has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Matsuda avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Matsuda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Matsuda tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Matsuda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Matsuda moves into the clinch. Hatfield wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hatfield changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Matsuda fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hatfield walks forward, straight into a front kick from Matsuda. Matsuda circles away from the clinch attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Matsuda misses the target. Hatfield shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Matsuda but Matsuda pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reginald Hatfield. That's going to take a lot out of him. Matsuda tries to clinch up. Hatfield throws a leg kick but Matsuda sees it coming and checks it nicely. Hatfield shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Matsuda sprawls well. Matsuda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hatfield gets slowly back to his feet.

Matsuda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hatfield paws at him with a jab and circles away. Matsuda ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hatfield moves away. Matsuda throws a head kick but Hatfield moves out of range.

Hatfield tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matsuda sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hatfield somewhat. Hatfield is trying hard to land a takedown here. Matsuda sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hatfield tries to keep at a distance but Matsuda has taken the fight into the clinch. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Hatfield. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. A bit of stalling here from Matsuda.

Matsuda throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hatfield. Matsuda closes the distance and pushes Hatfield back into the cage. Hatfield is working for takedown but Matsuda is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsuda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. The fight stays on the outside here - Matsuda looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hatfield fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Matsuda throws a right and a left that Hatfield avoids nicely. Hatfield changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matsuda tries to avoid it but Hatfield manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matsuda to the ground. Matsuda escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A nice leg kick lands there from Matsuda. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hatfield instigates a clinch. Hatfield tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Matsuda just stands there and leans against the cage. Reginald Hatfield has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kazuhito Matsuda is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Kazuhito Matsuda seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hatfield misses with a punch on the inside.
And that's the end of the fight! Kazuhito Matsuda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Matsuda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
