Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Hendricks! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Culture! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hendricks shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hendricks connects with a nice short shot to Culture's temple. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Hendricks with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Hendricks working Culture over with strikes. Hendricks missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Culture can do anything to dispel that myth. Culture is staying active underneath Hendricks, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hendricks is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Hendricks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hendricks is keen to just control but Culture is a slippery customer. Hendricks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Culture is refusing to be controlled, as Hendricks sits in half guard. Culture keeping control of the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mike Culture has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Hendricks gets a double leg takedown into Culture's guard. Hendricks chips away with some ground and pound. Hendricks throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hendricks chips away with some ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hendricks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hendricks wants to control from the top but Culture keeps moving.

Hendricks postures up in Culture's guard and throws a big left but Culture blocks it. Hendricks with a nice head shot there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hendricks controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hendricks with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hendricks passes into half guard. Hendricks thows a huge punch but Culture dodges it nicely.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Hendricks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hendricks lands strikes from half guard. Culture is positioning himself well to prevent Hendricks advancing to mount. Hendricks drops an elbow to the side of Culture's head. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hendricks lands a nice short elbow. That's four minutes gone in the round. Hendricks performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Hendricks lands strikes from half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Culture blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hendricks. Hendricks missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Culture is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hendricks is nestled in close to Culture, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Hendricks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hendricks tries to pass the half guard into mount. Culture knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Hendricks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Culture with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Hendricks dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Culture scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Hendricks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Culture's waist but Culture gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hendricks off to one side. Culture stuffs the takedown. Culture dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hendricks. That did some damage! Hendricks looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hendricks changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Culture tries to avoid it but Hendricks manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Culture to the ground. Culture escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Hendricks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Culture fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Culture lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. John Hendricks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hendricks has a takedown stuffed. Nice body punch from Culture. Culture lands with a shot to the body. Culture changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Culture sends Hendricks crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Culture is motioning to the referee to let Hendricks up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Hendricks is rocked! Culture lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Oh Hendricks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Culture walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Hendricks drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Culture swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Hendricks's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Culture! Mike Culture is the new light heavyweight champion! Mike Culture very nearly forgot to thank Bunny Clothing amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
