Del Norte comes to the ring accompanied by La Coka Nostra - Malverde Market. Joonas Mustonen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fantinaz Del Norte! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joonas Mustonen! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Del Norte closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Mustonen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Del Norte controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Mustonen looking to control.
Del Norte looking to pass the guard. Del Norte won't allow Mustonen to sweep him here. Del Norte trying to control the position from guard on top but Mustonen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Del Norte with a flurry of punches that miss. Del Norte preventing the sweep. Mustonen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Del Norte defends well. Del Norte pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mustonen is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Del Norte works over Mustonen with some ground and pound from guard. Del Norte throws an elbow that misses. Mustonen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Del Norte's guard. Nice move by Mustonen! Mustonen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Del Norte has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mustonen has managed to get both his arms back between Del Norte's legs - danger averted. Mustonen wants to control from the top but Del Norte keeps moving. Mustonen tries to free his leg and advance position but Del Norte is retaining full guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Del Norte escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mustonen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Mustonen trying to control the position from guard on top but Del Norte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Del Norte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've been hearing good reports from Del Norte's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Del Norte has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mustonen should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Del Norte has tightened it up now! Mustonen should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Fantinaz Del Norte! Fantinaz Del Norte decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
