Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey OHara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyoto Machida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida clinches up against the cage.
Machida escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
OHara misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Machida forces OHara back against the cage and clinches.
OHara has had enough of the clinch but Machida keeps him there for the moment.
Machida breaks the clinch.
OHara gets caught flat footed, as Machida shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
OHara has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Machida can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Machida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. OHara swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Machida is working hard here to advance position.
OHara had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Machida is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. OHara Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Machida's back instead.
Machida defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
Machida has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

OHara has hold of Machida's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Machida manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machida can't escape the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Machida has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

OHara looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Machida is looking to improve his position but OHara isn't that keen on the idea.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Corey OHara has been cut.
Machida lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

OHara wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Machida has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics OHara uses from the top position.

No luck for Machida with that takedown attempt.
Machida looks to land a combination but OHara avoids it well.
OHara stalks Machida and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Machida's face. Machida staggers backwards, shaken.
Machida feints and as OHara raises his hands in defense, Machida changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
OHara looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Machida gets to his feet - OHara follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Lyoto Machida will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Corey OHara's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
OHara doesn't manage to clinch there - Machida circles away.
OHara throws a sloppy head kick and Machida moves out of range easily.

and Machida holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Machida tries to pull guard but OHara holds him up against the cage and eventually Machida drops back down to his feet.

OHara tries to close the distance and clinch but Machida swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Machida working over OHara with some ground and pound. OHara looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Machida seems to be working for a kimura but OHara defends the submission attempt.
OHara is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Machida's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Machida's back!

OHara controlling well, preventing Machida from escaping the position.
OHara has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
OHara is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Machida has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
OHara has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Machida has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Machida turns into OHara and is now in his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
OHara escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Machida gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Machida chips away with some ground and pound.
Machida avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
OHara tries to clinch but Machida moves out of range.
Corey OHara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida scores with a spinning back kick!
Machida fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
OHara throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Machida cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Machida counters with a nice double leg into side control. OHara won't be happy with that.
OHara tries to bench press Machida off him but Machida keeps the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Machida tries to close the distance and clinch up but OHara swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Machida counters with a single leg into guard. OHara didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

OHara is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Lyoto Machida showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Machida, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
