The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ignatov checks a leg kick. A jab from Caldwell does it's job there. Caldwell gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Ignatov controls from within his opponent's guard. Caldwell tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ignatov advances to half guard. Ignatov is trying to work for a kimura but Caldwell is defending well.
Caldwell tries to get to full guard but Ignatov has control of the leg. Caldwell has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Ignatov escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Ignatov! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ignatov just content to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caldwell is trying to control Ignatov's posture but Ignatov avoids it. Ignatov lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Caldwell takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Elvis Caldwell has been cut. Caldwell is trying to improve his position. Ignatov grinds an elbow into Caldwell's temple. Caldwell is looking to regain half guard here but Ignatov keeps moving and retains side control. Caldwell gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ignatov controlling from the full mount. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ignatov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That has opened up Elvis Caldwell's cut even more.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ignatov working for a guillotine from mount but Caldwell is in no mood to give up. Ignatov with a couple of short strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ignatov looking to control and managing it successfully. Ignatov lands a heavy elbow. Caldwell stops Ignatov from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Ignatov controlling the pace for now. Caldwell tries to hold on but Ignatov pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ignatov landing punches.
Elvis Caldwell's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Elvis Caldwell's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Rammel Ignatov! A relieved looking Rammel Ignatov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
