These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, BJ Pencil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Niko Batchiska!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pencil keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Batchiska scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Batchiska trying to control the action but Pencil is working from the bottom.
Pencil is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Batchiska off and has taken his back!
Pencil has the hooks in. Batchiska is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Pencil tightening his grip on Batchiska, looking for the choke.

Pencil is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Pencil lands punches and elbows.
Batchiska is really stuck here.

Pencil is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Batchiska defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pencil is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Batchiska is defending well though. Pencil let's go of the attempt for now.
Pencil doesn't have the hooks in and Batchiska manages to turn into his guard.

Batchiska slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Pencil tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Batchiska wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pencil is breathing heavily.
Pencil is not content to let Batchiska control the position.
Batchiska tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pencil's legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Batchiska trying to control the action but Pencil is working from the bottom.

Batchiska has hold of Pencil's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Pencil seems comfortable defending it but Batchiska has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Pencil is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Pencil is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Batchiska couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Niko Batchiska!
