PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Shute (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shute comes into the arena with Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe blaring out of the sound system. Ross has chosen Slaughterhouse-Sound Off as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Shute!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronnie Ross!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross tries to clinch there but Shute circles away.
Shute misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ross fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ross tries to clinch up but Shute circles away and keeps his distance.
Shute circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shute misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ross.
Ross shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shute as he jumps to the side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ross slips a jab from Shute.
Ross is looking to clinch.
Ross slips a jab and a cross from Shute.
Ross is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ross moves in looking to clinch but Shute pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shute swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A jab from Shute misses.
Ross doesn't manage to clinch there - Shute circles away.
Shute throws a one two combo.


It looks like Ronnie Ross has been cut.
Ross walks into a stiff left hand from Shute.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ross tries to clinch but Shute is having none of it.
Nice defenses there by Ross.
Ross slips a straight right by Shute.
Shute takes a swing at Ross's ribcage but misses.
Brian Shute is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed right hand from Shute misses the target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Shute circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shute looks to land a combination but Ross avoids it well.
Ross shoots for a double leg takedown but Shute sprawls well. He's pushed Ross's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Shute keeps the fight on the outside.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shute avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ross doesn't manage to clinch there - Shute circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Shute dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ronnie Ross's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ross fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shute tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ross tries to clinch up but Shute circles away and keeps his distance.
Ross fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed right hand from Shute misses the target.

Shute keeps the fight on the outside.
Shute throws a jab when Ross was well out of range.
Ross misses with a takedown attempt - Shute sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A punch combination from Shute misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ross tries to clinch but Shute moves away
and Shute counters with a straight right hand.
Ross defending well as Shute loads up on a big left hand.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Ross fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shute looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ross avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shute is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Shute throws a big shot that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shute throws a jab but it's blocked by Ross.
Shute lands a left and a right that sends Ross crashing to the canvas! Shute dives into mount looking to finish!


Ross is rocked!
Shute loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Ross scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Shute land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Shute stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian Shute!
