Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Martin Van Buren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saenchai PKSaenchaimuaythaigym! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! PKSaenchaimuaythaigym throws a nice head kick!
Van Buren fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A head kick misses from PKSaenchaimuaythaigym. Van Buren scores with a nice strike. Van Buren throws a hook to the side of PKSaenchaimuaythaigym's head but PKSaenchaimuaythaigym sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A big right from PKSaenchaimuaythaigym misses. Martin Van Buren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Buren sizes up PKSaenchaimuaythaigym with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. PKSaenchaimuaythaigym fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Van Buren has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Van Buren will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Van Buren connects with a nice looking jab.
Van Buren looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Van Buren misses with a two punch combination.
Van Buren's jab looks to have found its range, popping PKSaenchaimuaythaigym under the eye. Van Buren takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Van Buren looks to score with a jab to the body but PKSaenchaimuaythaigym is just out of range. Van Buren throws a right and a left that PKSaenchaimuaythaigym avoids nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Buren swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Van Buren checks a leg kick. PKSaenchaimuaythaigym dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Van Buren. That did some damage! Van Buren lands a lovely overhand right. PKSaenchaimuaythaigym moves forwards but Van Buren connects with a nice, crisp jab.
PKSaenchaimuaythaigym is rocked! PKSaenchaimuaythaigym walks straight into a right hand from Van Buren - that's dropped him! Van Buren jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save PKSaenchaimuaythaigym from any more punishment! PKSaenchaimuaythaigym complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
