Copeland looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Copeland thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kensei is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Copeland lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Copeland lands a couple of good shots and Kensei has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Kensei is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Copeland gets his way!
Copeland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Copeland is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kensei has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Copeland has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kensei taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Copeland doesn't care though - he's delighted!

In his post fight interview, Butch Copeland started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
