The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Paulson.
Paulson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Paulson has closed the distance and engaged Alves in a clinch.
Paulson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Alves just stands there and leans against the cage.
Paulson jumps guard but Alves stands there with Paulson around his waist. Paulson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Alves goes for a takedown in the clinch but Paulson prevents it.
Paulson working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Paulson gets underhooks to prevent Alves's takedown attempt.

so Paulson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Paulson wants to pass the guard but Alves is keeping the position.
Alves tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Alves is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Paulson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alves wants to sweep here but Paulson controlling him for the moment.

Paulson is looking to take a break and control but Alves is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Paulson is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
