Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Raam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bryan Raam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gus Hansen! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hansen fails with a takedown attempt. Raam has a takedown stuffed. Hansen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Raam avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hansen. Raam on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Hansen missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Raam is looking to improve his position.
Hansen throwing shots but Raam is blocking nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hansen not landing any meaningful shots this time. Raam tries to roll over but Hansen keeps him under control. Hansen is looking to stall here but Raam recovers full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hansen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Raam is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Raam has escaped and now he's on top! Hansen is adopting a defensive guard. Raam preventing the sweep. Raam trying to control but Hansen is working from the bottom. Raam stands and steps away. Hansen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hansen shoots for a takedown but Raam saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Raam gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Raam has his hands on Hansen's head, controlling the position. Hansen wants to pass the guard but Raam is keeping the position. Hansen wants to control from the top but Raam keeps moving. Hansen lands a couple of decent looking shots. Hansen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Raam looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Raam working a defensive guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Raam looking for a sweep. Not yet Raam, not yet. Hansen lands a couple of elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hansen's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Raam looking to control.
Hansen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Hansen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Raam dives on top into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hansen can do anything to dispel that myth. Raam slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hansen wants to stand up but Raam is controlling him. Hansen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hansen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Raam has passed into side control.
Hansen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Raam passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hansen! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hansen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gus Hansen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Raam changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hansen tries to avoid it but Raam manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hansen to the ground. Hansen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Raam throws a right hand that Hansen ducks under and follows up with a left that Hansen also avoids with ease. The fight stays on the outside here - Raam looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hansen is defended easily by Raam. Hansen fails with a takedown attempt. Raam gets caught flat footed, as Hansen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Raam has momentary wrist control but Hansen slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hansen is looking to work some ground and pound but Raam has wrist control. Hansen throws a sloppy strike and Raam has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Hansen is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Raam!
