Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rikiya Sonoda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patterson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Still Unbroken" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. The key to victory for Rikiya Sonoda has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonoda throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Sonoda feints and then cracks Patterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Patterson down.
Nice sprawl there from Sonoda as Patterson shoots in.
Sonoda listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Sonoda tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sonoda lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Russell Patterson has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Patterson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Sonoda lands a big knee to the head and Patterson goes down! Sonoda pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
