PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Knife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tebato Nakara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Knife!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tebato Nakara!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakara throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Knife will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Knife tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nakara was well out of range. Poor timing from Knife.
Knife misses with the combination.
Nakara throws a nice looking combination but Knife bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Knife is looking to land body kicks.
Nakara tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nakara looks to score with a jab to the body but Knife is just out of range.
Nakara lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nice shot by Knife.
Nakara throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Knife throws a low kick but it's checked well by Nakara.

Knife pushes Nakara up against the cage in a clinch.

Knife doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Knife avoiding damage.
Knife scores with a nice hook to the head.

Knife breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Knife throws a front kick aimed at Nakara's knee but Nakara avoids it well.
Nakara takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Knife lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Knife swings for the body but Nakara moves out of range.
A nice combination there by Knife.


It looks like Tebato Nakara has been cut.
Nakara throws a sloppy head kick and Knife moves out of range easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Knife looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Knife throws a body kick that misses.
Nakara dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Knife. That did some damage!
Nakara looks to land a body kick but Knife moved away.
Knife throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Knife finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

and Nakara counters with a body kick that stops Knife in his tracks momentarily.

Knife lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Nakara fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Knife avoids it really well and circles away.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Knife.

Nakara avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Knife waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Nakara.

Nakara lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Nakara takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nakara lands a nice looking kick to the body. Knife takes a step back to recover.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Knife avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nakara fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Knife avoids it really well and circles away.
Jack Knife is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Knife throws an overhand right that lands on Nakara's shoulder, as Nakara tries to avoid the shot.
Nakara is looking to slow Knife down with leg kicks.
Nakara throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nakara goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Nakara checks a low kick from Knife.

Knife connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Nakara momentarily.
No joy there for Knife, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nakara misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Knife dodges the ground and pound from Nakara.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nakara connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Knife some visible discomfort.
Nakara looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Knife is avoiding damage well.
Knife is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Nakara misses with the ground and pound.
Knife tries to improve position but can't.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knife gets back to half guard.
Nakara missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nakara is pressing down on Knife's thigh, looking to free his foot. Knife is holding on for now.
Knife is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Wax on Wax off 'Dojo, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Nakara is looking to take a break and control but Knife is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nakara is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knife sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Knife has his hands clasped together around Nakara's back. He's all about the action.
Knife is trying to maintain the position but Nakara is very close to passing his half guard.
Nakara not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Nakara with the ground and pound but Knife uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Nakara is looking to work some ground and pound but Knife has wrist control.
Nakara lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Knife keeping moving, preventing Nakara from controlling successfully.
Nakara distracts Knife with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nakara not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Knife is adopting a defensive guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tebato Nakara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Knife lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A head kick from Knife lands but Nakara takes it in his stride.

Knife gets caught flat footed, as Nakara shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Nakara throws a big right hand that misses.
Tebato Nakara has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nakara throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Knife works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Nakara is pushing down on Knife's leg trying to pass to half guard. Knife is fighting to maintain full guard but Nakara has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nakara seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Knife does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nakara is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Knife trying to control from the bottom.
Nakara wants to free his trapped foot but Knife is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Nakara wants to lay and pray for a moment but Knife keeps working.
Nakara is just content to waste time from the top position. Knife takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Nakara throws a strike but Knife rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Knife wants to control from the top but Nakara keeps moving.

Knife throwing strikes but missing.
Knife trying to control but Nakara is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nakara has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Knife.
Nakara avoids the head kick by Knife.
Knife lands with a good body shot.

Knife scores with a jab. Nakara acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A bone on bone clash there as Nakara blocks the leg kick.
Knife cracks Nakara with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Knife counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice straight punches there by Knife. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Knife.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Knife showed his dominance in that final round.
