The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maddox moves into the clinch successfully.
Reed lands an elbow just above Maddox 's eye.
It looks like Jimmy Maddox has been cut. Maddox is trying to break free. A nice glancing elbow lands by Reed. Reed comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Maddox fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Reed gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Maddox is looking to break free of the clinch but Reed has double underhooks. The referee is keeping an eye on Reed - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Maddox is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Reed misses with an elbow over the top. Reed keeps control of Maddox as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Maddox just misses with a elbow thrown towards Reed's brow. Maddox tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Reed just stands there and leans against the cage. Maddox is trying to break free. Maddox is looking to break free of the clinch but Reed has double underhooks. Reed lands an elbow just above Maddox 's eye.
That has opened up Jimmy Maddox's cut even more. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Maddox tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Reed pushes off an throws an elbow but Maddox leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Maddox is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reed lands a nice elbow. Maddox has had enough of the clinch but Reed keeps him there for the moment. Reed prevents Maddox from breaking the clinch. Reed lands a nice elbow. Maddox tries to break the clinch but Reed is controlling the position. Maddox takes an elbow to the temple. Reed creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Maddox's defenses. Maddox is trying to push Reed away but Reed has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Reed throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Reed lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
The cut above Jimmy Maddox's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Maddox tries to break free but Reed pushes him back against the cage. Reed content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Maddox is trying to push Reed away but Reed has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. A nice glancing elbow lands by Reed. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Maddox is trying to maintain a safe position but Reed gets an underhook and turns Maddox into the cage. Maddox avoids the elbow strike from Reed, against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maddox jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Reed walks away with a smile on his face. Maddox gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Reed walks forward, straight into a front kick from Maddox. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Reed slips a jab from Maddox. Maddox will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Reed takes a swing at Maddox's ribcage but misses. Reed gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Maddox manages to break the clinch.
Reed moves out of range of the strikes. Maddox closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Reed misses with an elbow over the top. Maddox blocks an elbow strike. Maddox jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Reed walks away with a smile on his face. Maddox gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Tiger Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Maddox. Maddox attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Maddox avoids the body shot from Reed.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reed takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jimmy Maddox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Reed ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Maddox misses with an uppercut. Reed saw that one coming. Reed instigates a clinch. Maddox takes an elbow to the temple. Reed has Maddox pressed against the cage, preventing Maddox from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Maddox blocks the elbow strike.
Maddox throws an elbow but it misses.
Reed lands a damaging elbow. Maddox takes an elbow to the temple.
Jimmy Maddox's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Maddox blocks the elbow strike.
Maddox tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Reed just stands there and leans against the cage. Maddox wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jimmy Maddox's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
