The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goncalves shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bones.
Bones is trying to pull guard but Goncalves turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Goncalves looking to stall.
Bones has clasped his hands together around Goncalves's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Goncalves is looking to regain half guard here but Bones keeps moving and retains side control.

Bones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Goncalves has escaped the position, nice work there.

Goncalves looks to move to half guard but instead Bones has passed into mount! Damn!
Bones is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Goncalves has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Goncalves!
Goncalves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Goncalves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Goncalves looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Goncalves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Goncalves is working hard here to advance position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Goncalves throws out a leg kick but Bones moves out of range and Goncalves only half commits.
Bones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bones lands in his opponent's guard.
Goncalves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Goncalves wants to hit a switch here but Bones passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Goncalves there!

Bones is pressed up against the cage. Goncalves has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bones down to the mat. Bones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
