PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Cartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Mclovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mclovin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sandstorm by Darude. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedor Mclovin!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cartman gets the takedown into side control.
Mclovin is trying to control Cartman's posture but Cartman avoids it.
Cartman in side control lands a decent elbow.
Mclovin is trying to improve his position.
Mclovin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Cartman working the head and body with strikes.
Cartman tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Mclovin sneaks back into half guard.
Mclovin is not content to let Cartman control the position.
Cartman wants to pass to mount but Mclovin is defending the position.
Cartman stalling.
Cartman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cartman missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Cartman moves nicely into side control.

Mclovin tries to buck Cartman off but Cartman is having none of it.
Mclovin being controlled for a moment.

Cartman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mclovin, who protects the arm well.
Cartman prevents Mclovin from escaping the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mclovin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Cartman prevents Mclovin from standing back up.
Mclovin is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mclovin looks gassed!
Cartman trying to mount his opponent but Mclovin defends it.

Mclovin kicks Cartman off and gets back to his feet.

Cartman shoots in and drives through. Mclovin sprawls well.
Cartman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mclovin as he jumps to the side.
Cartman is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Cartman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Cartman throwing shots but Mclovin is blocking nicely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cartman lands a nice short elbow.
Mclovin wants to get back to his feet.
Cartman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Cartman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cartman tries to pass to full mount but Mclovin defends it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Mclovin lands a front kick.
Mclovin connects with a looping right hand.
Mclovin tries to clinch but Cartman is having none of it.
Cartman shoots in for a takedown but Mclovin shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Cartman dominated that round.
That's time! Cartman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mclovin bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Mclovin thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cartman if he has to take too many more of those.
Cartman takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Cartman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mclovin pinned against the cage. Mclovin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cartman looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cartman shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Cartman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cartman misses with a takedown attempt - Mclovin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cartman wants to clinch.
Cartman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cartman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mclovin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cartman tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Mclovin is pushing Cartman's head away, looking to escape. Cartman manages to hold on to the position though.
Mclovin is looking for a sweep.

Cartman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mclovin is looking to regain half guard here but Cartman keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mclovin wants to get back to his feet but Cartman drags him back down.

Cartman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mclovin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mclovin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cartman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Cartman content to control rather than advance.
Mclovin throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mclovin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cartman trying to control from half guard but Mclovin is working away.
Mclovin is looking to escape.
Cartman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Cartman is looking to take a break and control but Mclovin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cartman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mclovin circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Mclovin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Cartman fails to land the takedown.
Mclovin scores with a kick to the midsection.
Mclovin throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mclovin clinches with his opponent.
Cartman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Cartman stalling the fight.
Cartman goes for a takedown attempt but Mclovin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cartman tries to clinch up

and Mclovin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mclovin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cartman's guard.

Mclovin drops back looking for a leg! Cartman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cartman manages to kick Mclovin off! Mclovin jumps back into Cartman's guard.
Cartman is trying to keep Mclovin in close.

Cartman wants to sweep here but Mclovin controlling him for the moment.

Cartman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mclovin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mclovin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and Mclovin counters with a three punch combo that has Cartman backing up. Cartman nods at Mclovin to acknowledge the strikes.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mclovin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Cartman shoots and misses
and Mclovin counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cartman's knee momentarily.
Mclovin explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cartman tries to keep at a distance but Mclovin has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cartman tries to pull guard but Mclovin won't allow it.
Cartman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mclovin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Mclovin can't get the takedown.
Cartman is working for takedown but Mclovin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Mclovin tries to score a body lock takedown but Cartman shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Cartman trying to land knees to the body.
Cartman looking to stall.
Cartman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mclovin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Cartman prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cartman goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mclovin prevents it.
Cartman will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Mclovin up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fedor Mclovin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mclovin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
