Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Trig! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Christoph Benoit! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trig defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Benoit. Trig goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Christoph Benoit has been cut. Trig moves into the clinch. Benoit is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Trig pulls him back up using the underhooks. Benoit is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Trig is defending well. Frank Trig has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christoph Benoit. Trig is trying to break the clinch but Benoit is controlling him. Benoit tries for a takedown. No joy.
Trig is trying to force a seperation but Benoit has the dominant position. Benoit is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Trig pulls him back up using the underhooks. Trig's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Trig throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
We've been told by Trig's head coaches at NEXUS GYM that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Benoit doesn't manage to clinch there - Trig circles away.
Trig jabs Benoit right on the nose. Benoit blinks but takes it well. Trig lands a big head kick that sends Benoit tumbling to the mat! Trig takes a step backwards and waves Benoit back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Benoit is rocked! Trig lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Benoit falls backwards - clearly groggy! Trig dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Trig!
