The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mariusz wants to clinch
and Laurier cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mariusz misses with a series of wild punches.
Mariusz lands with a good body shot.
Mariusz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Laurier.
Laurier paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Mariusz pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Laurier misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mariusz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Laurier looks to land a left hand but Mariusz moved out of range nicely.
Laurier cracks Mariusz with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Mariusz misses with a hook to the body
and Laurier counters with a low kick, right behind Mariusz 's knee.
Laurier throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Laurier throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mariusz's head.

Mariusz tries to clinch but Laurier moves away
and Laurier counters with a nice body kick.
Mariusz defending well as Laurier loads up on a big left hand.
Good leg kick by Laurier there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mariusz moves out of range of the body kick.
Mariusz tries to clinch but Laurier is having none of it.
A punch combination from Mariusz misses.
Mariusz doesn't manage to clinch there - Laurier circles away.
Mariusz tries to clinch up but Laurier circles away and keeps his distance.
Mariusz lands an overhand right.
Mariusz uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Mariusz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Laurier scores with a decent looking hook.
Mariusz sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
A punch lands to the side of Mariusz 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mariusz forces Laurier back against the cage and clinches.
Mariusz trying to stall but Laurier improves his position.

Mariusz tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Laurier avoids it.
Laurier blocks an elbow strike from Mariusz.
Laurier scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Mariusz Mariusz has been cut.
Laurier lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Mariusz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Mariusz's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Mariusz lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Laurier backwards.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Laurier blocking some punches.
Laurier manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Laurier lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Laurier lands with a right to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mariusz is struggling to control the position.
Laurier drops Mariusz onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Mariusz is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Mariusz is rocked!
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Mariusz is still on wobbly legs! Can Laurier finish him?
Laurier dips a shoulder and cracks Mariusz with a mighty uppercut! Mariusz falls back against the cage and Laurier unloads with a barrage of strikes! Mariusz is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Laurier screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wilfrid Laurier!
A relieved looking Wilfrid Laurier thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
