Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Jarvis!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jarvis defending well as St Pierre loads up on a big left hand.

St Pierre manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jarvis on his heels. He'll look to pass Jarvis's guard now, I'm sure.
Jarvis wants to stand up but St Pierre is controlling him.
Jarvis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
St Pierre trying to control but Jarvis is working from the bottom.

St Pierre stands up from Jarvis's guard - St Pierre perhaps looking for a knockout.

St Pierre wants to pass the guard but Jarvis is defending well.

St Pierre is keen to just control but Jarvis is a slippery customer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jarvis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and St Pierre counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
St Pierre goes for a takedown attempt but Jarvis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
St Pierre misses with an uppercut.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jarvis missing with knees to the body.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Jarvis.
St Pierre manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

St Pierre jumps guard but Jarvis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Jarvis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

St Pierre changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jarvis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
St Pierre creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jarvis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Jarvis tries to improve position but can't.
Jarvis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

St Pierre decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jarvis to his feet.
St Pierre keeps the fight on the outside.

St Pierre closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jarvis's guard.
Jarvis keeping moving, preventing St Pierre from controlling successfully.
St Pierre is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jarvis lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

St Pierre leaves Jarvis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jarvis shoots for a double leg takedown but St Pierre sprawls well. He's pushed Jarvis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jarvis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but St Pierre moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
St Pierre throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
St Pierre feints a jab promting Jarvis to slip. St Pierre then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jarvis slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Jarvis decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jarvis closes the distance and clinches up with St Pierre, looking for a takedown. Jarvis pushes St Pierre against the cage but St Pierre circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

St Pierre shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jarvis is trying to defend but St Pierre finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with St Pierre in particular looking to stall.

Jarvis tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for St Pierre, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
