Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shelton Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Alexander! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexander misses with a jab, cross combination.

Alexander looks to land a combination but Joseph avoids it well. Joseph really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Joseph avoids a punch combination nicely.
Joseph shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alexander's guard. Joseph showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Joseph has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Shelton Joseph. Alexander lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Joseph circles away quickly and effectively. Larry Alexander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alexander throws a right hand that Joseph ducks under and follows up with a left that Joseph also avoids with ease. Joseph looking to shoot here. Joseph decides to stand up, so the ref orders Alexander to his feet. Alexander looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Alexander misses with a double jab
and Joseph counters with a single leg into guard. Alexander didn't expect that. Alexander had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Joseph defends it easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Joseph is stalling in the full guard. Joseph knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alexander on the ground. Alexander isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Joseph stacks Alexander on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Joseph!

Alexander tries to bench press Joseph off him but Joseph keeps the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Alexander is trying to work for a sweep but Joseph has mounted him! Alexander tries to get back to half guard but can't. Joseph working away from the top, dropping strikes. Joseph trying to control but Alexander is having none of it. Alexander is looking to improve his position but Joseph isn't that keen on the idea.

Joseph wants to free his trapped foot but Alexander is holding on for dear life with his legs. Alexander is looking for a sweep. Joseph is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Joseph scoring with strikes to the body and head. Joseph will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Alexander looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Joseph seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Joseph clinches. Alexander is fighting off a takedown attempt but Joseph is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Alexander to the mat. Alexander regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Joseph controlling from the top position. Alexander looking to hit a scissor sweep but Joseph is one step ahead there. Alexander working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Joseph has passed into half guard!

Alexander is breathing heavily. Joseph is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Alexander defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Alexander is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Joseph gets his way!

Alexander blocks an elbow strike. Joseph tightens his grip and picks Alexander up, before dumping him to the ground. Alexander manages to land in guard. Alexander looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Joseph has picked Alexander up and slammed him! Alexander can't keep hold of the triangle and Joseph manages to pass to side control! Alexander is looking for a sweep. Joseph decides to stand up, so the ref orders Alexander to his feet. Shelton Joseph is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Joseph closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Joseph lands in his opponent's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alexander keeping full guard, as Joseph tries to pass. Alexander throws his legs up looking for a submission but Joseph uses it to pass to side control.

Joseph tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Joseph is working for a guillotine from mount but Alexander frees his head quite easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Joseph doesn't have the hooks in and Alexander manages to turn into his guard.
Alexander postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Joseph is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alexander, into his guard. Joseph is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Alexander has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Joseph is looking to defend but Alexander has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Joseph! Alexander pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Joseph taps out and this one is all over!
