Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Krystof Mckay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Duke! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Duke enables Mckay to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Duke manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Duke wants to stand up but Mckay is controlling him. Mckay is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Mckay seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Duke for as long as he can get away with.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Krystof Mckay just wasn't active enough. Mckay cracks Duke with an uppercut from hell and Duke crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Mckay's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mckay's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mckay thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duke wants to stand and escape but Mckay is having none of it. Mckay drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Mckay as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Duke screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Mckay! Nice submission victory there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Krystof Mckay! Post fight, Krystof Mckay stared into the camera and said 'It feels great to have the belt around my waist. After so many blown chances it amazing to finally win a belt. I hope to keep it for a long time.'.
