Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Franz Ferdinand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franz Ferdinand has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Franz Ferdinand! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blake Ward! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward gets caught flat footed, as Ferdinand shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Ward keeping moving, preventing Ferdinand from controlling successfully. Ward wants to sweep but no luck. Ferdinand's corner is telling him to maintain position. Ward keeping moving, preventing Ferdinand from controlling successfully. Ward lands a decent shot there. Ferdinand sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ward's guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Ward manages to regain full guard. Nice work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ward is on top in guard.
Ward lands a couple of digs. Ferdinand tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ferdinand working for a triangle but Ward defends it easily.
Ward trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferdinand is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ward keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ferdinand's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferdinand is trying to control the position but Ward postures up. Ward wants to control from the top but Ferdinand keeps moving. Ward has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ward accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ward trying to control but Ferdinand is working from the bottom.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Blake Ward wasn't active enough on the ground. Ward darts in looking for a takedown but Ferdinand gets double underhooks and turns Ward into the cage. Ferdinand keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ward's efforts to push away. Ferdinand pulls guard effortlessly. Ward postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ward chips away with some ground and pound. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ward working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Ferdinand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ward on the ground. Ward working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ferdinand is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ward won't allow Ferdinand to sweep him here. Ward lands a couple of decent looking shots. Ferdinand is trying to control the position but Ward postures up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ward wants to control from the top but Ferdinand keeps moving. Ferdinand is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ferdinand shoots in for a double leg but Ward sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ferdinand looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ward is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ward thows a left - swing and a miss! Ferdinand forces Ward back against the cage and clinches. Ward goes for a takedown attempt but Ferdinand pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ferdinand looks to land a right hand but Ward moved out of range. Ward misses with a looping right. Ferdinand attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Ferdinand throws a series of punches but Ward moves out of range. Ferdinand will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franz Ferdinand. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ward fails in his attempt to clinch. Ferdinand moves out of range of the strikes. Ferdinand blocks a leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ferdinand thows a body shot but no joy. Ferdinand displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ward throws out the jab. Ward steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ferdinand. Ferdinand fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ferdinand misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ferdinand is breathing heavily. A punch combination from Ferdinand misses. Ferdinand moves out of range of the strikes. Ferdinand blocks a jab. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Ward misses with a hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ward misses the shot to the body. Ward missing with a left hand there. Ferdinand was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Ferdinand slips a straight right by Ward. Ward throws a low kick, looking for Ferdinand's leg but Ferdinand calmly moves out of range. Ward loads up on a big right hand but Ferdinand slips the punch. Ward defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ferdinand. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ward attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Ward is looking to score with low kicks. Ferdinand has closed the distance and engaged Ward in a clinch.
Ward wants to break free but Ferdinand has control.
Ward is trying to break the clinch but Ferdinand is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Blake Ward will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Ward enables Ferdinand to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ward manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ferdinand stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ward swivels though and keeps the full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ward holds on and takes a little breather. Ferdinand has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ward looking for a sweep. Not yet Ward, not yet. Ward trying to control the position.

Ward wants to sweep here but Ferdinand controlling him for the moment. Blake Ward has got the better of the ground game so far. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Ward escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ferdinand gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ferdinand postures up and lands a big shot to Ward's brow. Ward is controlling Ferdinand's posture. Ward manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ward lands a big shot there that rocks Ferdinand but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ward quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Ward but it's paid off an Ferdinand is forced to tap! Nice work by Ward.
