Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Petruzelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Meyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petruzelli comes to the cage accompanied by How Could I Just Kill A Man. Meyer comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Life will kill you kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Anthony Petruzelli looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Petruzelli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Meyer!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petruzelli stuffs the takedown attempt from Meyer. Meyer gets slowly back to his feet.
Meyer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Petruzelli closes the distance and clinches.
Petruzelli keeps control of Meyer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Petruzelli prevents a takedown attempt there.

Petruzelli breaks the clinch.

Petruzelli pushes Meyer up against the cage in a clinch.
Petruzelli lands a knee to the body.
Petruzelli has Meyer pushed against the cage.
Meyer looking to slow down the pace here.
Petruzelli crunches a lovely knee into Meyer's ribcage.
Petruzelli unloads a knee to the mid-section. Meyer lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Petruzelli wants the takedown. Meyer is fighting it off but Petruzelli persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Meyer's guard against the cage.

Meyer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Petruzelli.
Meyer is trying to stand up here but Petruzelli is controlling him well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Meyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Petruzelli is thwarting Meyer's attempts to control the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Petruzelli postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Meyer to stand up.
Meyer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Petruzelli clinches up with Meyer and pushes him back against the cage.
Meyer tries to pull guard but Petruzelli won't allow it.
Anthony Petruzelli has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Meyer.
Petruzelli scores a nice knee to the body.

Petruzelli breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Petruzelli unloads a knee to the mid-section. Meyer lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Petruzelli connects with a knee to the head.

Petruzelli scores a nice knee to the body.
Meyer takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Steve Meyer has been cut.

Petruzelli has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Meyer is trying to keep an underhook but Petruzelli manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Petruzelli is pressing down on Meyer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Meyer is holding on for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Meyer is trying to stand.
Meyer won't allow Petruzelli to pass to mount.

Petruzelli seems to be working for a kimura but Meyer defends the submission attempt.
Meyer tries to get to full guard but Petruzelli has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Petruzelli dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Steve Meyer's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Petruzelli feints and then cracks Meyer's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Meyer down.
Petruzelli circles away from the clinch attempt
and Petruzelli counters with a low kick, right behind Meyer 's knee.

Petruzelli closes the distance and clinches.
Petruzelli manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyer tries a knee to the head but Petruzelli blocks it.

Petruzelli breaks the clinch.
Meyer is breathing heavily.
Meyer has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Petruzelli.

Petruzelli darts in and clinches Meyer up against the cage.

Petruzelli has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Meyer clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
A lull in the action here.
Petruzelli scores with punches and elbows.

Petruzelli is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Meyer has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Petruzelli working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Meyer grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Petruzelli tries to keep control of the position but Meyer is staying busy.
Petruzelli is not going to allow Meyer to sit and survive in this position.

Meyer fending off the submission attempt from Petruzelli.

Petruzelli is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Meyer knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Meyer for a finish.

Petruzelli patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Meyer trying to control the position but Petruzelli manages to sink in the hooks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meyer is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Petruzelli gets his way!
Meyer tries to roll but Petruzelli sticks to his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Petruzelli has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Meyer is in real trouble here. Petruzelli gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Meyer is tapping out! Petruzelli wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Anthony Petruzelli!
