Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Claudio Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Shioon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee Shioon will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter clinches up with Shioon and pushes him back against the cage.
Shioon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carpenter pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shioon tries to work over Carpenter's front leg with a kick but Carpenter checks it.
Shioon dives in and grabs Carpenter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carpenter pushes down on Shioon's head and hops out.
Shioon tries to clinch up.
Carpenter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Shioon clinches up with Carpenter and pushes him back against the cage.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Carpenter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carpenter is on top in guard.

Shioon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shioon wants to stand but Carpenter is controlling his posture from full guard.

Shioon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Shioon wants to get up but he can't break Carpenter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Shioon has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Carpenter to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shioon is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Carpenter pulls down on the head and he's put Shioon to sleep! This one is all over!
