Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rickey Obrien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Ortega told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega fails with a takedown attempt.
Ortega closes the distance and clinches.

Obrien manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Obrien has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ortega has passed into side control.

Obrien throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Obrien isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ortega stacks Obrien on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ortega!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That was a close round but I would say that Rickey Obrien will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ortega wants to hit a switch here but Obrien passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ortega there!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You can see the frustration on Ortega's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
I would not like to be Ortega right now.
Obrien's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
