Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam Howie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevie Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Howie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stevie Hill!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hill feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hill throwing strikes from guard but Howie blocks nicely.
Howie wants to get back to his feet but Hill is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hill trying to control but Howie is working from the bottom.
Hill has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hill controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hill trying to control the position from guard on top but Howie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Howie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hill!
Hill is desperately trying to improve his position but Howie has a good base and remains in mount.

Howie get's back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hill misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stevie Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hill tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Some wild striking there from Howie.

Hill closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hill looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hill looks gassed!
Howie keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hill is working for a kimura but Howie is defending it quite comfortably.
Howie is staying active underneath Hill, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hill looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Howie trying to control but Hill postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hill wants to lay and pray for a moment but Howie keeps working.
Howie missing with punches from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Howie lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Howie misses with a head kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Howie misses with a double jab.
Hill is looking to clinch but Howie is avoiding it.
Hill shoots in but no luck this time.
Howie lands with a cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Stevie Hill will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A head kick misses from Howie.
Hill shoots in but no luck this time.
Howie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Howie holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Howie lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Howie misses with a knee to the head.
Howie throws a knee to the head but misses.
Howie looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Hill is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Howie pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Howie using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Howie's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Howie using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hill has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Hill is breathing heavily.
Howie drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hill gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hill blocks the elbow strike.

Howie working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Howie scores with a knee to the head.

Howie has Hill pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Howie pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hill tumbling to the mat - Howie dives into Hill's guard.

Hill has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Howie doesn't defend quickly enough and Hill has managed to lock this one up! Can Howie escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hill on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Stevie Hill!
