Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gennady Golovkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Liam Prynne!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Prynne closes the distance and clinches.
Golovkin wants a takedown.

Prynne breaks from the clinch.
Golovkin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Prynne sprawls well. Prynne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Golovkin gets slowly back to his feet.
Prynne fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Golovkin.
Golovkin is breathing heavily.

Prynne takes the fight into the clinch.
Golovkin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Prynne is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gennady Golovkin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Prynne breaks from the clinch.

Golovkin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Prynne to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Liam Prynne has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Golovkin throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Prynne rushes Golovkin and presses him up against the cage.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Prynne in particular looking to stall.

Prynne postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Golovkin to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Golovkin shoots in for a double leg but Prynne sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Prynne throws a head kick that Golovkin semi-blocks.


It looks like Gennady Golovkin has been cut.
Prynne lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Golovkin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Golovkin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Golovkin is trying to get an arm triangle but Prynne is defending well.
Golovkin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Prynne is trying to control Golovkin's posture but Golovkin avoids it.
Golovkin wants to control but Prynne is keeping him busy.

Prynne wants to get back to his feet but Golovkin drags him back down.

Golovkin is really struggling to control Prynne but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Prynne is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Golovkin off and has taken his back!

Prynne slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Prynne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Golovkin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Prynne tries to keep control of the position but Golovkin is staying busy.

Prynne has the hooks in. Golovkin is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Golovkin tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Golovkin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Prynne controls Golovkin momentarily but Golovkin frees himself.

Golovkin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Golovkin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prynne swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Golovkin goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Golovkin throws a head kick that misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Prynne looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Prynne tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Prynne closes the distance and pushes Golovkin back into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Golovkin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Prynne pulls his leg out and moves away.

Prynne fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Golovkin sprawls well initially but Prynne persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Golovkin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Prynne wants to stand but Golovkin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Golovkin is looking to improve his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Liam Prynne.

Prynne gets a double leg takedown into Golovkin's guard.

Golovkin is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Prynne frees his head nicely. Oh but Golovkin has switched to an armbar! Prynne is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
