Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Coke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Barret (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barret leaves Coke with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Barret closes the distance and clinches. Barret pushes Coke back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Coke is trying to break free. Coke has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Barret lands with a right to the head. Barret manages to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barret wants to stand but Coke is controlling the position. Barret utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Barret keeping moving, preventing Coke from controlling successfully. Coke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Barret lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Coke!
That's one minute gone in the round. Coke keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Barret takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Barret trying to control but he's not successful this time. Barret controlling from the full mount.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dan Barret hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Barret pushes Coke up against the cage in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barret's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Some wild striking there from Barret.
Barret moves into the clinch. Barret prevents Coke from breaking the clinch. Barret breaks from the clinch.
Barret keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. The fight stays on the outside here - Barret looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Coke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Barret. Coke throws a head kick that misses. Barret tries to close the distance and clinch up but Coke swats him away and circles back towards the center. Coke shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barret pinned against the cage. Barret gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Coke. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Coke tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barret paws at him with a jab and circles away. Barret tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Coke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Barret throws an off balance right hand

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barret throws an overhand right that lands on Coke's shoulder, as Coke tries to avoid the shot. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barret avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Coke looking to score a takedown here. Barret is defending well but Coke drives through and ends up in Barret's guard. Barret is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barret defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Coke. Coke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barret's waist but Barret gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coke off to one side. Barret looks for a takedown but Coke sprawls well. Coke looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Barret! Barret is looking to reverse the position. Coke stands up. Dan Barret seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barret rushes Coke and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Barret looks to throw an elbow but misses. Barret will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Coke up against the cage. Barret throws a knee to the head but misses.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Coke. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barret is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Barret escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Coke misses with a head kick.
Barret throws a push kick but Coke slaps the foot to one side. Coke shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barret but Barret pushes him off and we're back to square one. Barret misses with a jab, cross combination.
Barret shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Barret throws a nice looking combination but Coke bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Barret moves into the clinch. Barret taking a breather. Barret is breathing heavily. Barret pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coke taking a breather. Barret breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Coke tries to keep at a distance but Barret has taken the fight into the clinch. Barret pulls guard successfully.
Barret preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Coke decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Coke avoids the head kick by Barret.
Coke throws a low kick but Barret moves out of range easily. Coke throws a sloppy head kick and Barret moves out of range easily. Coke throws a head kick that misses. Barret bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coke misses with a low kick. Coke closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barret manages to get back to half guard. Coke is looking to take a break and control but Barret is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Barret gets full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barret tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Barret takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Barret tries to clinch but Coke is having none of it. Barret throws a series of punches but Coke avoids them all with ease. Coke drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Coke stands up. Nice defenses there by Coke.

Barret has Coke pressed against the cage, preventing Coke from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Barret pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Barret displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Barret takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Barret misses with the combination.
Dan Barret seems to be getting the better of the standup. Coke dodges the punch combination from Barret.
Coke shoots in for a takedown but Barret shows good takedown defense. Coke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Barret to the mat! Barret manages to get full guard. Barret keeping moving, preventing Coke from controlling successfully. Coke is looking to advance position but Barret has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coke keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Coke is working hard here to advance position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Coke is squirming around, avoiding Barret's attempts to control the action. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Coke is desperately trying to improve his position but Barret has a good base and remains in mount.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jim Coke. I think Barret has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
