Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Jordan Statham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Wojtek Brudasek! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brudasek throws a right hand that Statham ducks under and follows up with a left that Statham also avoids with ease. Statham shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Statham won't allow Brudasek to sweep him here. Brudasek looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Statham preventing the sweep. Statham trying to stand up but can't free himself from Brudasek's guard. Brudasek has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Statham can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Statham cracks Brudasek with a solid left hand. Brudasek looking for subs off his back but Statham has passed one foot through into half guard.
Statham is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Statham looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brudasek with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brudasek has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Statham is working away from the top position though. Statham lands strikes from half guard. Statham lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Nice strikes from Statham there. Statham is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brudasek defends it well. Brudasek is looking to improve his position.
Statham wants to pass to mount but Brudasek is defending the position. Brudasek actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Brudasek is looking for a sweep. Statham is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Statham has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Statham connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Brudasek is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Brudasek wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Statham lands a big elbow. Brudasek wants to control but Statham is having none of it. Statham landing strikes from the mount and Brudasek is in trouble!
Brudasek is rocked! Statham connects with a bit shot that sees Brudasek covering up! More strikes from Statham and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Statham is our winner by TKO!
