Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lasse Kongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Lasse Kongo has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lasse Kongo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Smith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kongo's guard.
Smith postures up.

Kongo manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Kongo.
Kongo fails with a takedown attempt.
Kongo punishes Smith's body with a nice straight punch.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kongo but Kongo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kongo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kongo has a takedown stuffed.
Kongo fails to land with a series of punches.

Kongo lands a nice looking body shot.
A combination from Kongo does no damage.
Kongo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown. Kongo fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lasse Kongo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kongo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Smith dives into side control.
Smith wants to stand but Kongo is controlling his arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kongo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kongo is working hard here to advance position.
Smith tries to advance to mount but can't.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith advances to full mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Smith looking to control but Kongo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kongo working to try and regain half guard.
Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kongo is desperately trying to improve his position but Smith has a good base and remains in mount.

Smith controlling from the full mount.
Smith tries to control but Kongo wriggling away.
Kongo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kongo throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kongo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith won't allow Kongo to sweep him here.
Kongo has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up.

Kongo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith wants to control from the top but Kongo keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kongo scores with a nice head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Paul Smith will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kongo misses with a wild body shot.
Kongo throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
Kongo's corner calls for a 1-2. Kongo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Lasse Kongo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Kongo stuffs the takedown.
Kongo connects with a single shot there.
Smith throws a predictable looking body shot
and Kongo counters with a left and a right that stings Smith.

Smith is rocked!
Kongo sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Smith's defenses. It connects perfectly with Smith's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
