PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ludo Valen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Kure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Crazy Kure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valen gets a double leg takedown into Kure's guard.

Valen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kure manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Valen has Kure in his guard.

Valen looking for a guillotine here but Kure defends easily.
Kure pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Valen is keeping the position for now.

Valen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kure passes into side control.
Valen is looking for a sweep.

Valen looks to move to half guard but instead Kure has passed into mount! Damn!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Valen is breathing heavily.

Kure is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Valen has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kure trying to control but Valen is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Valen defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kure.
Kure content just to control the position here.
Kure wants to control the pace but Valen is squirming around nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kure prevents Valen from getting the reversal.
Kure controlling the pace for now.
Valen is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kure wants to control the pace but Valen is squirming around nicely.

Kure is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Valen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Valen!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Crazy Kure hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kure shoots for a takedown but Valen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Kure dominated that round.
That's time! Valen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Valen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Valen wants it to stay on the feet.

Kure gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Valen to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Valen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kure dives on top into guard.
Kure trying to control but Valen is working from the bottom.

Kure passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Valen sneaks back into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kure is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Valen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Valen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Valen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kure gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kure trying to control the position from guard on top but Valen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Valen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kure can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kure sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Kure trying to control but Valen is working from the bottom.

Valen is looking for a triangle but Kure pushes his legs off easily.

Kure drops back looking for a leg! Valen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Valen manages to kick Kure off! Kure jumps back into Valen's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kure advances to half guard.
Valen is not content to let Kure control the position.

Valen looking for submissions off his back.

Valen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ludo Valen will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Kure tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Valen swivels and escapes.
Kure scores with a jab.

Valen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kure to the ground. Valen is now in Kure's guard.
Valen tries to free his leg and advance position but Kure is retaining full guard.

Valen has gone for a leg lock! Kure slips out almost immediately though and dives into Valen's guard.
Kure trying to control but Valen is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Valen working for a triangle but Kure defends it easily.
Valen keeping moving, preventing Kure from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kure drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kure jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Crazy Kure has got the better of the ground game so far.

Valen is looking for a triangle here but Kure uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kure is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Valen is trying to escape and Kure transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Valen is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kure! Very nice indeed!
