Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Harold Buck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Funke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Funke has chosen never gonna stop as his entrance music. Harold Buck has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Harold Buck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cody Funke! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buck lands a lovely overhand right. Funke scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Buck lands a nice looking body shot.
Buck lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Funke at a distance.
Buck takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Funke's coach down at Facebreaker Academy : Striking was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Funke's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Buck needs to keep his hands up - Funke had a free shot at his head there. Funke misses the shot to the body. Funke bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Buck gets caught flat footed, as Funke shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Buck escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Funke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Buck lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Funke! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buck is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Funke is surviving well by controlling Buck's body position as best he can. Funke is squirming around, avoiding Buck's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Funke really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Buck jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Funke is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Funke and Buck has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Funke is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Buck misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Buck tries to stand but Funke is controlling his head. Funke is trying to improve his position. Buck wants to control but Funke is keeping him busy.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Buck thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Funke can't do much from the bottom here. Funke gets back to half guard. Funke gets full guard. Funke looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Funke looking for a guillotine here but Buck defends easily.

Buck trying to control but Funke is working from the bottom. Buck drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Funke manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Buck has Funke in his guard. Funke avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Buck had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Funke defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Funke distracts Buck with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Buck is trying to keep Funke in close.
Buck is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Funke is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Funke throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Funke working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Buck's head. Funke wants to control from the top but Buck keeps moving. Buck throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Buck escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Funke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Buck seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Buck has his foot on Funke's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Funke works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Harold Buck will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Funke misses with a straight left. Funke misses with a body shot.
Funke works over Buck's head and body with a nice combination. Buck misses with a double jab.
Funke uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Buck. Buck misses the shot to the body. Buck's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Funke connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Buck scrambles back to his feet. Funke scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Buck misses with a hook. Funke ducked under it nicely. Sloppy strikes from Buck. Those never looked like landing. Buck throws a jab when Funke was well out of range. Buck has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Harold Buck has been cut. Buck connects with a body shot that sends Funke's belly button to the back. Buck throws a good cross that connects.
Harold Buck is winning the standup battle so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Funke swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Funke takes one to the chin there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Funke fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Buck misses with a body shot.
Nice shot by Buck. Buck throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Funke. Buck thows a body shot but no joy. Buck lands a head shot. Buck takes one on the chin but seems OK.

and Buck counters with a right hand to the body. Buck takes a jab right on the kisser.
Funke lands a slapping body shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Funke. Nice takedown defense from Funke. No joy for Buck on that attempt. Funke avoids the body shot from Buck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Buck misses with a looping left. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Buck throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Cody Funke is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Horrible takedown by Buck or perhaps it was just good defense by Funke which made him look bad. Buck keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Funke. Buck walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Buck stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Buck avoids the body shot from Funke.
Funke clobbers Buck with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Funke throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Buck takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Buck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Funke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buck somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harold Buck. That's going to take a lot out of him. Funke pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Funke lands a really nice looking cross but Buck seems unphased.
Funke lands with a nice body punch. Funke throws the kick towards the body but Buck avoids it. Funke lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Buck tries to sprawl but Funke drives through with a takedown into half guard. Buck is looking to control Funke's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Buck avoid being mounted? Buck is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Funke scores with a couple of nice shots. Buck moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Funke keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Buck's head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Funke chips away with some ground and pound. Buck working for submissions but it's allowed Funke to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Buck is defending against the submission attempts here by Funke.
Funke is nestled in close to Buck, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Funke is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Buck actively working from the bottom here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Funke is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Funke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Harold Buck's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Buck loads up on a big right hand but Funke slips the punch. Funke scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Funke scoring with punches and elbows. Funke tries to score with some ground and pound. Buck controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Buck struggling a bit here. Buck is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Buck's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Buck manages to work his way to half guard, despite Funke's best efforts. Nice strikes from Funke there. Buck tries to roll over but Funke keeps him under control. Buck has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Funke is working away from the top position though. This has been an exciting period of action! Funke working the head and body with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buck is looking for a sweep. Funke is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Buck is working hard here to advance position. Funke takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Funke seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Funke stays in close to Buck's body and controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Funke working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Buck's head. Funke trying to control the position from guard on top but Buck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Funke wants to pass the guard but Buck is keeping the position. This has been an exciting period of action! Buck trying to keep a closed guard but Funke is proving a slippery customer.
Buck lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Funke! Funke bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Funke is sitting in close to Buck's body. Buck has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Funke is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Funke is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Buck.
