Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Howlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by Will T. Bear - For a Few Dollars More. Howlett comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Berserker kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! 27 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Howlett! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Howlett. Howlett looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range. Johnson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Howlett counters with a slapping leg kick. Howlett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Johnson.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Howlett does a little dance to reset his feet. A nice leg kick lands there from Howlett. Johnson misses with an uppercut
letting Howlett counter with a right hand. Johnson clobbers Howlett with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Johnson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Howlett avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Howlett throws a shot from downtown. Johnson moves away and avoids it. Johnson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Howlett checks it well. Johnson moves out of range of the strikes. Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Howlett's waist but Howlett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Howlett keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Howlett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Howlett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Johnson is working away from the top position though. Johnson is looking to advance position but Howlett won't allow it. Howlett is trying to control but can't.
Well, if Johnson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Johnson wants to control but Howlett is keeping him busy. Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Howlett's head. Johnson is pressing down on Howlett's thigh, looking to free his foot. Howlett is holding on for now.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Johnson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Johnson prevents a body shot from Howlett. Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Howlett sprawls well. Howlett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet. Johnson scores with a jab. Howlett acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Howlett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away. Johnson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Howlett checks it well. Luke Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Howlett throws a leg kick which misses Johnson's front leg but catches the back leg as Johnson tries to avoid it. Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Johnson goes for a double leg but Howlett avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Howlett continues to drive forward. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson misses with a hook to the ribs.

A close round but James Howlett will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Howlett stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Johnson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Howlett. Howlett getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
It looks like Luke Johnson has been cut. A decent looking body kick lands there for Johnson. Howlett lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. An inside leg kick lands from Howlett. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Howlett is trying to keep Johnson in close.

Let's hope that Howlett has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A slapping body kick lands there for Howlett. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Nice sprawl there from Howlett as Johnson shoots in. Howlett fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

And that's the end of the fight! James Howlett comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Howlett has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
