PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jstevens Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo has chosen Lupang Hinirang-Philippines National Anthem as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jstevens Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Aldo blocks a head kick by Jordan.
Aldo misses with the combination.

Aldo closes the distance and clinches.
Jordan tries for a takedown. No joy.
Aldo stalls.
Jordan is trying to drag Aldo to the mat but Aldo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jstevens Jordan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Aldo lands a nice elbow.

Aldo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jordan shoots in looking for a takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl out of it but Jordan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aldo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aldo connects with a looping right hand.

Aldo throws a nice head kick!

Aldo forces Jordan back against the cage and clinches.

Aldo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jordan dives in for a single leg takedown but Aldo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Aldo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Jordan tries to keep at a distance but Aldo has taken the fight into the clinch.

Jordan pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jordan working for a triangle but Aldo defends it easily.
Jordan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jordan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aldo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Aldo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jordan is breathing heavily.
Aldo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jordan is proving hard to escape from.

Jordan has momentary wrist control but Aldo slips an elbow through the middle.
Aldo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jordan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Aldo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Aldo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Aldo is looking to work some ground and pound but Jordan has wrist control.

Jordan wants to get back to his feet but Aldo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Aldo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jordan throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jose Aldo wasn't active enough on the ground.
Aldo scores with a head kick. Jordan tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Good shot there by Aldo.


Jordan is rocked!

Aldo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jordan, pushing him back against the cage.

Aldo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aldo feints with a jab and clips Jordan right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Jordan is sent crashing into the canvas and Aldo leaps in for the kill! Jordan tries to get to his feet but Aldo is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Jordan is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Aldo!
In his post fight interview, Jose Aldo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
