Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Firmo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miralles Cezar!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Firmo shoots for a takedown but Cezar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Firmo misses with a wild combination.
Firmo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cezar is fending him off so far but Firmo persists. Nope, Cezar circles away and we're back to standing.
Firmo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Cezar is out of range.
Cezar rushes Firmo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Firmo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matheus Firmo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cezar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cezar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cezar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cezar is sitting in close to Firmo's body. Firmo has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Cezar is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Cezar is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Firmo.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Matheus Firmo!
After the fight, Matheus Firmo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
