Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Potter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Dawid Paluch! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paluch tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Potter defends well and Paluch ends up having to push Potter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Paluch misses with some punches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Paluch - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Potter has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Paluch uses from the top position. Paluch working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Potter has his foot on Paluch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Paluch works his way back into a safe position though. Potter looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Paluch passes into side control.
Potter is trying to work for a sweep but Paluch has mounted him! Potter is trying to reverse the position but instead Paluch has taken his back - oops! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Potter trying to get back to his feet but Paluch is in full control for now. Potter is really stuck here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paluch working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Potter tries to break free.
Paluch wants to control but Potter is keeping busy. Potter is trying to get back to his feet but Paluch has full control of the position and if anything, Potter has just worked his way into a worse spot. Potter rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Potter is looking to improve his position.
Potter moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Potter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paluch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Paluch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Potter looking for a triangle here. Paluch is fighting it but it looks tight! Potter pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Paluch is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Ryan Potter! An out of breath Ryan Potter thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
