PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sir Digby Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Gornev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caesar's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar Theme. Gornev has chosen gladiator -magnum as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sir Digby Caesar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ivan Gornev!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caesar throws a sloppy body shot
and Gornev counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

so Caesar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Caesar scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Caesar wants to pass the guard but Gornev is keeping the position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Caesar makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Caesar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gornev wants to stand up but Caesar is controlling him.
Caesar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gornev is pushing Caesar's head away, looking to escape. Caesar manages to hold on to the position though.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Caesar seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gornev for as long as he can get away with.
Caesar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Ivan Gornev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gornev shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Caesar eats them both and turns towards Gornev to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gornev is trying to stand.
Caesar slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Caesar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gornev pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Caesar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gornev is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Caesar cracks Gornev with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
BOOM! Caesar connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Caesar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sir Digby Caesar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Caesar won't let Gornev get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Caesar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Caesar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Caesar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gornev can do to turn this around?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Caesar has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Gornev.
Caesar lands a good shot there. Gornev covers up! Caesar smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Gornev to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Caesar jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!
